The Levant Ceramic Funeral Cremation Urn is made from ceramic by hand one at a time. Based on an ossuary in the form of a house from Azor, Levant. It has an internal lidded box and a "cover" for the opening. Hand built from slabs of earthenware clay with a terra sigillata finish. <br> This urn was based on a mid-5th-4th millennium BC Chalcolic ossuary from Azor, southern Levant. These would have been arranged in rock caves on the floor or on benches. Many of these ossuaries were made to represent houses of the time and place. This urn has an internal lidded box and a "cover" for the opening. It is hand built from slabs of earthenware clay with a surface treatment of fine earthenware slip clay. <br> Front lid opening.
