Ceramic is a deceivingly beautiful material that has been utilized by many different societies throughout our collective human history. This seemingly fragile material has proven to stand the test of time, which is obvious with the many different functional vessels that have been discovered around the world. While it is able to survive in the elements, especially when it is interred and subject to the extreme pressures of the Earth, it is still so fragile that dropping a piece, even just a few feet, can cause it to shatter, as if it were made of glass. Moreover, the uses that this material has provided have proven to be countless, and it is fair to say that were it not for the discovery of ceramic by our long lost predecessors, our world would certainly be a very different place than it is today.
