Immanuel Kant, a famous German philosopher, once said, "We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals." This short quote certainly carries great meaning, as we often fail to realize that the animals around us are not there for our entertainment or pleasure, but actual living beings. One of the most fundamental lessons we can learn is to respect all life around us, whether it is a bird singing on a branch, a beautiful flower growing in an empty lot, and especially, the pets that we have brought into our own homes. This is needless to say to anyone who has ever had a pet they truly loved, as these wonderful creatures, in time, certainly earn our respect. This is often because our pets provide us with unfailing love, constant companionship, and most importantly, great comfort. With that said, it is understandable then, that losing such a beloved friend can leave one in a great state of grief.
