What Are Custom Caskets?
Custom caskets are burial caskets that have been personalized with photos, artwork, colors, engravings or themed designs chosen by the family. Unlike standard caskets that come in fixed finishes, a custom casket gives you the ability to incorporate meaningful images, symbols and personal details that celebrate who your loved one was. From a favorite landscape printed across the lid to a hand-selected color palette that reflects their personality, personalized caskets turn a traditional burial into a one-of-a-kind tribute.
Personalization Options for Custom Caskets
Photo Panels and Picture Caskets: One of the most popular choices among families is a casket featuring printed photographs. Custom caskets with pictures allow you to display cherished family photos, scenic landscapes, religious imagery or any meaningful image directly on the casket exterior. Photo panels are digitally printed on high-quality materials and can wrap the sides, lid or corners of the casket for a visually stunning presentation during the viewing and service.
Custom Colors and Finishes: If you have a specific color in mind — whether a favorite sports team color, a soft pastel or a bold statement shade — a customized casket can be finished to match. Custom color caskets are available in both metal casket and wood casket bases, with painted, lacquered or powder-coated finishes depending on the material.
Themed and Artwork Designs: For families who want something beyond photos and colors, themed caskets feature hand-painted or digitally printed artwork that reflects a passion, hobby or belief. Nature scenes, sports themes, patriotic designs, floral arrangements and religious artwork are all popular choices. A casket custom-designed around a theme can serve as a meaningful conversation piece during the memorial service and a lasting tribute to the individual.
Engravings and Inscriptions: Many custom caskets can be personalized with engraved nameplates, dates, meaningful quotes or short messages. Engravings are typically added to metal hardware, wooden lid panels or decorative corner accents. This option pairs well with photo or color customization for a fully personalized presentation.
How to Order a Personalized Casket
Choosing a Base Casket: Every custom casket starts with a base model. You can choose from metal or wood construction depending on your preference and budget. Metal bases offer a smooth surface ideal for full-wrap photo printing, while wood bases provide a warm, natural foundation for painted or engraved designs.
Submitting Your Design: After selecting your base, you provide the photos, artwork or design preferences you would like incorporated. Our team works with you to create a digital proof before production begins, so you can review and approve every detail. The goal is to ensure the finished customized casket matches your vision exactly.
Timeline and Delivery: Because each personalized casket is made to order, allow additional production time compared to standard caskets. Most custom orders are completed and shipped within a few business days. All custom caskets ship free and are delivered directly to your funeral home, cemetery or designated location.
Why Choose a Custom Casket?
A personalized casket offers families the opportunity to honor their loved one in a way that feels authentic and meaningful. Rather than selecting from a limited display at a funeral home, ordering a custom casket online gives you access to a wider range of design options at a more transparent price point. Families often find that the process of choosing photos, colors and designs becomes a healing part of the memorial planning experience.
