More About Our Print Keepsakes
Create a truly custom memory of your loved by carrying their print with you wherever you go. This not only allows their memory to remain with you in an elegant keepsake, but allows them to truly leave their mark.
What are thumbies?
Thumbies, or fingerprint jewelry, are a special piece of jewelry that allow you to emboss the 'thumb' or fingerprints of a loved one into a piece of metal like stainless steel, sterling silver or 14k gold. These fingerprint necklace memorials are truly unique because no two people have the same fingerprints. This makes for a truly unique piece of jewelry and gives those grieving something special to always remember their loved one by.
What are the different types of fingerprint jewelry?
Our most popular fingerprint jewelry are fingerprint necklace memorials that contain a chain and a small pendant adorning your loved one's fingerprint. However, we also have fingerprint rings, bracelets, cufflinks, earrings, keychains and even Zippo lighters. So, there really is something for everyone.
Fingerprint memorial jewelry comes in a variety of different metals including stainless steel, sterling silver, 18k or 14k gold and white gold. The various shapes include: hearts, stars, crosses, flags, teddy bears and sports. The variety makes it easy to capture a loved ones presence.
What's the process for ordering a piece of thumbies jewelry?
It's very simple. First, place an order with us. After ordering, you will receive an email order confirmation. Reply to the email and attach a black-and-white image of your loved one's finger, thumb, hand or footprint. Once we confirm that the print is good for embossing, your part is complete. We hand your print off to our artists, and they start working on creating you a special, one-of-a-kind memorial that you will never forget.
How long does it take to create a thumbies fingerprint keepsake?
The process usually takes between 3-5 weeks once your fingerprint is accepted by us. It's a pretty short period of time when you consider that this is a truly custom piece of art.
How is fingerprint jewelry made?
Thumbies are made by using a process called wax casting. This ancient and intricate process preserve the detail present in a fingerprint. The wax casting creates a mold of your loved one's fingerprint. Metal is then poured into this mold.
While the process sounds simple, it's actually very delicate work. A lot of care and attention goes into ensuring every crevice, ridge and valley is present in the final piece. Finally, the piece is inspected throughout the process to correct any imperfections early.
