More about Our Cremation Jewelry for Ashes

What is Cremation Jewelry?

Cremation jewelry for ashes allows you to take that small piece of someone you love with you wherever you go.  Whether you're at home, heading to the office or out with family and friends, your urn jewelry from Memorials.com goes right along with you. Handling the loss of a loved one is the hardest thing we deal with in life, but having your piece of keepsake jewelry with you at all times brings remembrance of the good times and allows you to express your memories of your loved one to others. Cremation jewelry consists of either a necklace pendant, bracelet or ring that holds a small amount of the cremated ash remains of a loved one. This jewelry can then be worn on a daily basis helping many people with the grief of their loss.

How much does Cremation Jewelry Cost?

Cremation jewelry comes in all shapes, sizes and prices. Simple keepsake jewelry can start as low as $15. These are simple charms or pendants with a receptacle for the ashes. You can get a very unique and custom piece of cremation jewelry on average in the $200-$300 range. Cremation diamonds which allow you to make a diamond out of your loved one's ashes can cost as much as $3,500.

How is Cremation Jewelry made?

Sterling silver, gold and stainless steel cremation jewelry are made just like regular jewelry. Many of our glass cremation jewelry are made with the ashes of your loved one. You send the ashes to us and our artists custom make you a work of art. As you browse our site, look into each of our cremation jewelry subcategories for more about how that particular type of cremation jewelry is made as they are each different.

What are the different Types of Cremation Jewelry?

Cremation jewelry comes in so many different types. Here is a breakdown of what you have to choose from:

  • Cremation Necklaces
  • Cremation Rings
  • Cremation Bracelets
  • Cremation Diamonds
  • Cremation Earring & Cufflinks
  • Keychain Urns
  • Pet Cremation Jewelry

Cremation Necklaces:

Cremation necklaces, also known as urn necklaces, are a great way to take a small piece of your loved one with you. Each pendant comes with a small receptacle embedded inside it that allows you to fill with a small amount of your loved one's ashes. These necklaces for ashes come in a variety of different pendant shapes including hearts, crosses, animals and nature. And, they also come in a variety of different materials like glass, wood, stainless steel, 14k gold and sterling silver.

Cremation Rings:

Cremation jewelry rings are outfitted with a small chamber in which your loved one's ashes (or another small memento) can be placed. These memorial rings for ashes are becoming more and more popular, as they offer a different way of creating treasured keepsakes that will help pay tribute to a lost friend or family member. We offer a variety of cremation jewelry rings for both men and women in 14k gold, sterling silver and stainless steel.

Cremation Bracelets:

Cremation bracelets are one of the most popular new pieces of cremation keepsake jewelry. These elegant bracelets for ashes hold a small amount of cremation ash or other similar, small remembrance. Some are adorned with charms or beads. They are available in a variety of designs. Once filled, the bracelets create steadfast tokens of comfort, reminding us that while we lost a friend or family member, the love we shared with them will forever continue to burn strong. We also offer glass cremation beads that fit on a bracelet. These special beads are a great unique token to include on any bracelet or necklace. They are specially made with the ashes or hair of your loved one and create a stylish memorial.

Cremation Diamonds:

If you want a truly unique family heirloom, then you are going to want to take a peek at our line of cremation diamonds. Our Ashes to Diamonds collection are certified diamonds that are created from the cremation ashes or hair of a loved one. It truly is an amazing way to remember your special love and to hold something that can be passed down through the generations.

Cremation Earrings & Cufflinks:

Cremation earrings and cufflinks are another custom piece of cremation jewelry available. These stylish pieces allow you to have the ashes of your loved one fused into a unique piece of glass. Small, discreet and beautiful, this is yet another way to remember your loved one.

How can I personalize my cremation jewelry?

The best way to personalize your cremation jewelry is to look into our glass cremation jewelry. In that section, we have hundreds of options to allow you to fuse the ashes of your loved one directly into the glass. Each piece is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. A select set of our cremation jewelry pieces also allow for engraving. Your cremation jewelry already will be personalized when you add your loved one's ashes or a small memento of your loved one into the jewelry.

How do I care for my cremation jewelry?

Caring for cremation jewelry is very similar to many other types of jewelry. It really depends on the type of material it is made out of: sterling silver, stainless steel or gold. Also, glass and wood need to be treated differently.

Who will put the ashes in my pendant?

Each cremation pendant comes with the right tools for you to transfer the ashes into the ash holder jewelry. If you feel uncomfortable to fill the pendant by yourself, we suggest asking the funeral director or crematory director.

How much cremation ashes can the pendant hold?

The cremation pendants typically hold between a quarter of a teaspoon to a full teaspoon of ashes.

What else can I put in my pendant?

The ash pendant can be filled with anything you like, such as a lock of hair, crushed ceremonial flowers, or earth from a special site, just to name a few remembrances. Just remember that the pendant will not fit much on the inside.

Will the pendant be waterproof?

Once the pendant is sealed with the sealant, it is safe in the water. However, because of the nature of the jewelry, we do not recommend wearing the pendant while swimming or showering.

How will the pendant open?

Our cremation ash containers usually open with a screw from the back or the top.

What is the best way to take care of cremation jewelry?

First, it's important to understand that gold is a soft metal and therefore capable of obtaining dents and/or scratches. Below are some of the top Do’s and Don'ts for our gold cremation jewelry:

Do’s:

  • Do store your gold jewelry separate from other jewelry. Gold is a soft metal and so it may easily bend or get scratched if you allow it to mix with other jewelry. If possible, separate each individual piece by using a jewelry box with a separator. Other options are to individually wrap each piece of jewelry in a piece of soft cloth.
  • Do hang up gold cremation necklaces so that the chains do not get tangled.
  • Do buff your gold jewelry on a regular basis. You can really make your gold jewelry shine by using a soft chamois cloth and then gently rubbing the surface.

Don'ts:

  • Do not wear your gold jewelry while engaging in high impact activties - like sports, moving heavy objects (especially for gold cremation rings). This can dent or scratch the gold.
  • Do not wear your gold cremation jewelry in the pool! Gold hates chlorine, it will cause discoloration.
  • Do not wear gold jewelry while cleaning. Household cleaners also can damage gold due to the acids or abrasives inside them.
  • Do not put on cosmetics after you put on your gold jewelry.  Cosmetics like perfume, lotions, makeup or hairspray have the ability to damage gold. If you put these cosmetics on before you put on your jewelry, you will have a better chance of keeping it damage free.
  • Do not wear gold jewelry when bathing. Soap can build up a film on your jewelry cause dullness over time.

What is the best way to clean gold cremation jewelry?

Gold jewelry is actually fairly simple to clean compared to other metals like silver. Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Put a little bit of mild dish detergent in a small bowl. Then, fill the bowl with warm water and mix it - just like you're doing the dishes.
  2. Next, see if your jewelry has any stones in it:
    1. If your jewelry has stones in it: Get a cloth and put it into the soap bowl. Then, pull the cloth out and softly wipe down your gold jewelry.
    2. If your jewelry does not have stones: Place your piece of jewelry into the bowl, rub the surface with your fingers for a couple of minutes and then leave it there for 3 hours.
    3. Bonus Tip: If your piece is heavily ornamental or detailed, you can also use a Q-tip to get into the crevices.
  3. Next, grab another bowl and fill it with warm water. Rinse each piece of jewelry in the clean water and make sure there is no soap left on the piece.
  4. Next, you can either let your jewelry air dry or you can use a soft, dry cloth to gently rub it dry.
  5. Finally, our recommendation is to clean your gold jewelry every 3-4 months. This keeps it shining brightly for years to come. Also, gold jewelry can be damaged if it's cleaned too often, so keep to a consistent quarterly schedule and your jewelry should do well.

TESTIMONIALS
"This is a beautiful urn that looks hand made. The color of mine is more of a grayish green than the bright green of the picture, but in ceramics colors often vary. I have my urn on top of my entertainment center along with other items. It fits in well, and doesn't scream "cremation urn." This urn really is a fitting container for the ashes of a beloved pet."
